Each year hundreds of people bring human rights complaints to RNDDH. RNDDH’s assistance to victims and to their families can take on many forms, but at the first stage it involves ensuring that public authorities and citizens are fulfilling their obligations, in terms of reporting, responding to and investigating complaints.
In documented cases of human rights violations RNDDH (with the permission of the victim) denounces the violation, and those responsible and works with local authorities to effect changes to policy and practice, and/or provide accompaniment to the victim in taking legal or other action. In some cases, events, or situations involving alleged human rights violations, RNDDH may dispatch teams of human rights monitors to various locations and/or the area in question to collect information on the situation.
