First cycle (Basic Session):
1. Introduction to Human Rights
This topic helps participants master the concept of “Human Rights” throughout history, to understand its development, its importance, and to differentiate a human rights violation from an offense.
2. Gender Issues / Women’s rights
This module allows participants to have a different perception of women, to avoid discriminatory taboos, to understand gender issues and the need for men and women to come together to develop Haiti. Because, in any case,, emphasis should be placed on human dignity and not on gender, religion, race, social status etc..
3. Constitution and Human Rights / Judicial system
The Haitian judicial system should be known by every Haitian. This knowledge would help prevent violations of human rights. In fact, justice is the backbone of democracy. The court’s fundamental role is to render justice to those who need it. This topic allows participants to know Haitian legal framework , formation, role and jurisdiction of every court
4. Civil status / its importance
This topic helps members of grassroots organizations to discover the hidden truths with respect to the many problems they are confronted with every time we discuss the issue of getting a birth, marriage, death certificate, etc.. Most people in rural areas are unaware of process for obtaining a civil status act and / or an identification
5. Decentralization / Local Authorities
This topic helps participants understand: what is Local Authorities, differentiate between local authorities and territorial division. This module also helps motivating participants about their participation, their representation in local government through decentralization. It also outlines the division, the organization of the three powers.
6- Project Management
This topic helps participants use consistent and appropriate resources available in the implementation of their activities.
